Delhi bomb threat : 10 Delhi museums receive bomb threat, later turned bogus

New Delhi : Following the bomb threats via emails to over 150 Delhi school’s airport, The Ministry of Home Affairs, led by Home Minister Amit Shah, now several museums in Delhi received bomb threats which later turned out to be bogus. 

Officials said that bomb threats were sent to around 10-15 museums including the Railway Museum in Delhi via emails.


Police official said, “As soon as the information was received, the team of Delhi police immediately rushed to the spots to investigate the matter. The mail regarding bomb threats was sent to various museums including the Rail Museum of the city, on Tuesday.”

Upon investigation, the officials found that the mail was a 'hoax' and no bomb was found in the museums.

The police have registered a case in this regard and further investigation is underway to find those behind the hoax call.

Meanwhile, in May, two colleges affiliated with Delhi University were targeted by false bomb threats, while more than 100 schools across the Delhi-NCR region also received similar threats.

In April, the High Court requested a comprehensive update from the Delhi government regarding the series of hoax bomb threats affecting private schools. On May 17, the Delhi Police submitted a report to the Delhi High Court detailing the measures taken to address the recent surge in hoax bomb threats in the capital. 

They mentioned the deployment of five bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams across various districts, including at key locations such as the IGI airport, railway stations, and metro stations.

The report also highlighted the distribution of schools across different police ranges: 1,764 schools in the Central Range, 1,032 in the Eastern Range, 1,762 in the Western Range, and 76 in the New Delhi Range.
