Mumbai rains: 3 dead, while traffic, trains delayed in major parts of the city
Mumbai rains have resulted in water logging in some parts of the city today along with delays in trains and traffic moving slowly, while three people have lost their lives after a tree fell due to heavy rainfall, here on Monday morning.
Two people died and five were injured on Sunday after a tree fell on them near Metro Cinema at MG Road in South Mumbai's Marine Lines area. A 13-year-old boy was also killed and his parents were injured in a wall collapse on their house at Wadol village in Thane at around 2 am today.
“Local trains are running late by 5-10 minutes due to a technical problem at the Bandra station. Inconvenience is regretted,” Sanjay Mishra, divisional railway manager, said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall for Mumbai in the coming hours, as per official reports.
"The Santacruz weather station recorded 231.4 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. So much rainfall is categorised as extremely heavy showers," IMD Mumbai Director Ajay Kumar said.
