Mohali: Five aides of gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa nabbed; arms, ammunition seized
Mohali, May 26: Mohali police on Wednesday apprehended five members of a gang headed by Canada-based gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa and seized seven pistols, one magazine of an AK-47 rifle, 45 live cartridges, two SUVs and cash from their possession.
The arrested accused were allegedly involved in extortion, NDPS and Arms Act cases, and murder attempts in Tarn Taran and Samrala. They have been identified as Chohla Sahib resident Lovejit Singh (21); Harike resident Akashdeep Singh (21); Amloh resident Gurjant Singh (20); and Samrala residents Paramvir Singh (19) and Sunil Kumar (22).
"Five members of Lakhbir Singh gang have been arrested. Police have also recovered seven bore pistols, one AK-47 magazine, besides two vehicles from the possession of the arrested gangsters," Mohali SSP Viveksheel Soni said in a press conference.
The accused have been booked under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC and the Arms Act at the Sadar Kharar police station.

According to the police, the suspects were planning to commit a major crime but were arrested near Rayat Bahra College.
The arrested accused had reportedly opened fire in a ransom case at Khalra village on April 20 and shot at a man in his thigh at Mukshakabad village in Samrala on May 15.
They were planning to carry out criminal activities in Tarn Taran district and the Shahkot area on the instructions of Landa, and were also planning to rob a bank in Mohali district, the police informed.
Notorious Canada-based gangster Landa is the key conspirator of the RPG blast at the state intelligence office in Mohali. He is said to be a close associate of gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda.
