MHA approves FCRA licence to Golden Temple for 5 years

The Central government has granted a Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence to Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as Golden Temple, at Amritsar in Punjab for 5 years. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted the licence as the Golden Temple management had applied for the FCRA registration on May 27 this year. The management plans to continue to run a free community kitchen that gives food to the poor and needy, including children. It also plans to provide financial assistance to the needy. The Golden Temple management has so far under the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has been able to fulfill these objectives through the domestic donations. Now, as the Central government has granted FCRA licence, it will be able to receive foreign contributions to meet the expenses on these noble endeavors.
