MHA approves FCRA licence to Golden Temple for 5 years
The Central government has granted a Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence to Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as Golden Temple, at Amritsar in Punjab for 5 years. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted the licence as the Golden Temple management had applied for the FCRA registration on May 27 this year.
The management plans to continue to run a free community kitchen that gives food to the poor and needy, including children. It also plans to provide financial assistance to the needy. The Golden Temple management has so far under the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has been able to fulfill these objectives through the domestic donations.
Now, as the Central government has granted FCRA licence, it will be able to receive foreign contributions to meet the expenses on these noble endeavors.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of Food Processing, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, took to Twitter and wrote: "Happy to share that MHA has granted approval under FCRA to Sri Harmandir Sahib. This will enable the shrine to receive 'Sewa' from all over the world and go a long way in propagating Gurusahab’s philosophy of ‘Sarbat da Bhala’. I'm grateful to Amit Shah Ji for making this possible."

Likewise, Home Minister Amit Shah said in a tweet: “PM Narendra Modi ji is blessed that Wahe Guru Ji has taken Seva from him. The decision on FCRA at the Sri Harmandir Sahib is a path-breaking one which will once again showcase the outstanding spirit of service of our Sikh sisters and brothers.”

He added that “Sri Darbar Sahib’s divinity gives strength to us. For decades, the Sangat worldwide was unable to serve there. Modi Government’s decision to allow FCRA to the Sri Harmandir Sahib deepens the connect of Seva between the Sangat globally and the Sri Darbar Sahib. A blessed moment!”
