Manipur: Mobile internet services suspended for 5 days
Churachandpur/Bishnupur (Manipur) [India], August 7: After a van was set on fire in Manipur’s Bishnupur by unidentified youths, Manipur government suspended mobile internet services for 5 days. As per the statement from state home department, the services has been halted because of the stressful communal situation in the state which violates law and order situation of the state. Also Read: 80 hurt, 17 missing as fire rages at oil tank in Cuba Notably, situation of Manipur is deteriorating with the each passing day leading to communal disrupt and religious discrimination among youths. Meanwhile, the administration also imposed Section 144 CrPc in 2 two districts of Manipur namely Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts for the next two months. Meanwhile, on the situation of the state Manipur government’s home department stated, "An incident occurred on Saturday evening at Pjhougakcho Ikhai Awang Leikai along Tiddim Road NH-02 wherein one Eco-Van was reportedly found set ablaze by 3-4 youths suspected to be of a community. The crime has created tense communal situation and volatile law and order situation in the State." The order further stated that some anti-elements are using media platform for transmission of hate speech and hate video messages.
