Lumpy disease: BJP holds massive protest against Rajasthan govt over cattle deaths

Jaipur (Rajasthan), September 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party held a massive protest after thousands of cattle died in Rajasthan as a result of Lumpy skin disease. The lumpy disease is a viral disease that affects cattle. It is transmitted by blood-feeding insects such as flies and mosquitoes, as well as ticks. It produces fever and skin nodules, and can lead to the death of the cattle. During the Rajasthan BJP's protest in Jaipur, Satish Poonia climbed atop a police barricade. Earlier, Pushkar BJP MLA Suresh Rawat arrived at the Rajasthan Assembly with a cow in an unusual incident on Monday. The act was performed in order to oppose the spread of Lumpy disease in livestock. The cow ran as soon as the BJP MLA arrived on the scene and began speaking. On September 19, Rajasthan Chief Minister took note of the situation and stated that the state government's priority is to handle the lumpy disease, but that vaccines would be provided by the Centre. The vaccine was developed in collaboration with the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izzatnagar, by the National Equine Research Center, Hisar (Haryana) (Bareilly).
