Legend has it that at the tender age of 30, he experienced a divine revelation after disappearing into the river Bein. Emerging after three days, he conveyed a universal message: "There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim."
Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings emphasised the oneness of the divine, transcending societal divisions and preaching love, equality, and kindness for all humanity. He travelled extensively on foot, known as his 'udasis,' spanning over 20,000 km, traversing lands far and wide to spread his divine wisdom.
His compositions, enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture of Sikhism, are a testament to his spiritual depth. His poetic verses, or 'shabads,' resonate with messages of unity, compassion, and the pursuit of truth.
Among his core teachings were the importance of honest labour, sharing with the less fortunate, and promoting gender equality, challenging the prevalent societal norms of the time.
