Launch of One Nation, One Ration Card in Chandigarh
PM Modi had given a clarion call for launch of “One Nation, One Ration card” all over the country. This enables the beneficiaries to get ration, even when he moves out to other state or UT's. This is particularly helpful for migrant laborers, who stay a few month at one place and thereafter go to other place for work. Without portability of the ration card, these poor people were getting deprived of their entitlement for ration. PM had directed that all UT's must introduce this scheme on priority and become a model for the rest of the country. In due compliance of the directions, Chandigarh launched One Nation, One Ration Card. During the official launch, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator handover ration cards to a few beneficiaries. Due to corona, it was decided not to have any major event involving large gathering of people or local representatives for distribution of ration cards. These will be delivered to them at their door steps by government officials. This new One Nation, One Ration Card introduced by Chandigarh Administration will enable the beneficiaries to get ration money in Chandigarh and Puducherry, where DBT system is prevailing.
