To deal with the food crisis, the Supreme Leader ordered citizens to hand over their pet dogs. Dog meat has been considered a delicacy in Korea, although the tradition of eating dog meat is gradually fading out in South Korea. As per the UN report, North Korea's 25.5 million people are facing "widespread food shortages".
