Joe Biden to bring 8-year citizenship path for immigrants
Ahead of Joe Biden's inauguration, the US President-elect is planning to unveil an immigration bill on Day 1 of his administration in an order to provide an 8-year-path to US citizenship for over 11 million people living in the US without legal status.
If it happens, it will be a massive reversal from the Donald Trump administration's harsh immigration policies.

The new US immigration bill, which is in consideration, will put Joe Biden on track to deliver one of the major campaign promises to Latino voters and other immigrant communities.
The bill will be the fastest way towards citizenship for those living without legal status in recent years.

The bill is set to be introduced after the US President-elect Joe Biden will take the oath of office on Wednesday, a report stated.
As a presidential candidate, Biden had called Donald Trump's immigration policies as “unrelenting assault" on American values and that he would “undo the damage" while continuing to maintain border enforcement.
According to the legislation, those living in the United States as of January 1, 2021, without legal status may apply for a five-year path to temporary legal status, or a green card but have to clear background checks, pay taxes and fulfill other basic requirements.
However. the process will be quick for some immigrants. The youngsters who arrived in the US illegally as children, as well as agricultural workers and those under temporary protective status, could qualify immediately for green cards only if they are working, studying in school, or meet other requirements.
