Nursery admissions: Delhi Directorate of Education issues admission schedule for entry-level classes in private schools

Nursery admissions: The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has announced the admission schedule for entry-level classes (below six years of age) for open seats in private unaided recognised schools in Delhi for the academic session 2025-26.

Key Dates and Details


Admission start date: The admission process for Nursery, KG, and Class 1 will commence on November 28, 2024

Registration deadline: The last date for submitting registration forms is December 20, 2024.

First admission list: The first admission lists for the general category will be released on January 17, 2025

Age Criteria

Minimum age (as of March 31, 2025): Nursery: Three years; KG: Four years and Class 1: Five years

Upper Age Limit: Nursery: Less than four years; KG: Less than five years;  Class 1: Less than six years

Age Relaxation: Up to 30 days' relaxation in the minimum and upper age limits may be granted at the discretion of the head of the school.

Admission queries: Parents can contact school heads for any admission-related questions between January 18 and January 27.

Admission criteria: All private unaided recognised schools must upload their admission criteria and point systems on their official websites by November 25.

Tie-breaker procedure

In the event of a tie among applicants, a draw of lots will be conducted, either through a computerised system or manually by drawing slips. The draw will be held in the presence of parents and will be recorded on video, with the footage retained by the school for documentation.
