Delhi University UG Admissions 2024-25: Delhi University (DU) has announced the first allocation list for undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2024-25. The university has allocated seats to 97,387 candidates in the initial round of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which is part of the newly implemented admission process.

This year, Delhi University introduced the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) to streamline the admissions process. The university has a total of 71,600 sanctioned seats across various undergraduate programmes. To fill these seats, the university considered an astounding 5,68,20,017 unique cutoffs and ranks in this first round of seat allocation, according to an official statement.

The process began with Phase I of CSAS, during which 2,45,287 candidates registered. Of these, 185,543 candidates completed Phase II by indicating their preferences for program and college combinations. In total, the university received an overwhelming 1,72,18,187 preferences from applicants.

New features in admission process

This year, a significant addition to the CSAS system is the candidate dashboard feature. Through this, candidates can view specific details such as the cutoff ranks and scores that determined their seat allocation, categorised by their respective categories and quotas. This enhancement is aimed at providing transparency and clarity in the allocation process.

Each candidate can now see not only their Common Rank but also the programme-specific CUET (Common University Entrance Test) score and cutoff score for all the programmes they applied to. It’s important to note that admissions are determined by the Common Rank, which means that simply meeting the cutoff score does not guarantee admission. There may be instances where candidates with identical programme-specific CUET scores receive different ranks due to the application of tie-breaking rules.

It’s also worth noting that ranks will not be assigned to performance-based programmes such as BA (Hons) Music, BSc (Physical Education, Health Education & Sports), BFA, and certain supernumerary quotas including Sports, Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA), Children/Widows of Armed Forces (CW), and Ward categories.

Revised tie-breaking rules for rank generation

This year, due to the National Testing Agency (NTA) providing raw scores instead of normalised scores, Delhi University has revised its tie-breaking criteria. These criteria will be applied when two or more candidates have the same CUET-UG 2024 merit scores for a particular programme and college combination.

The following steps outline the tie-breaking process

Preference is first given to candidates who have a higher percentage in their Best 3 subjects from Class 12.

If a tie still persists, the next preference is based on the candidate's Best 4 subjects percentage from Class 12.

If necessary, the percentage in the Best 5 subjects from Class 10 will be considered.

If the candidates remain tied, the older candidate, as determined by their Class 10 certificate, will be given preference.

As a last resort, the alphabetical order of the candidates’ names will be used to break the tie.

Allocation statistics from Round I

In the first allocation round, Delhi University has allocated 97,387 seats out of the 71,600 sanctioned seats available across its various undergraduate programmes. Among those allocated, 52,838 are girls, and 44,549 are boys. Additionally, special allocations were made, including 243 orphans and 1,339 single girl children.

The programme with the highest number of allocations is BCom (Hons), with a total of 10,096 seats allocated.

Next steps for shortlisted candidates

Candidates who have been shortlisted in Round I must log in to their candidate dashboard to accept their seat allocation by 4.59pm on Sunday, August 18. After accepting the allocation, they are required to submit their fees by 4.59 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

It is crucial to note that only those candidates who complete the fee submission process within the specified timeline will be eligible for the "upgrade" options in subsequent rounds of allocation. The university advises all candidates to regularly check the official admission website for the latest updates and notifications.
