CBSE to hold class 10 board exams twice a year starting 2026, draft norms approved

According to the draft, the initial exam session is scheduled from February 17 to March 6, and the second is set between May 5 and 20.

CBSE to hold class 10 board exams twice a year starting 2026, draft norms approved

PTC News Desk: Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to hold class 10 exams twice a year starting year 2026. In a significant reform in examination system for, students will be provided an additional opportunity to improve their performance. 


"Both the examinations will be conducted on the full syllabus and the candidates will be allotted the same examination centres in the two editions. Exam fees will be enhanced and collected for both exams at the time of application filing," a senior board official said.

"The first and second editions of the board exams will also act as supplementary exams, and no special exams will be conducted in any circumstances," the official added.

According to the draft, the initial exam session is scheduled from February 17 to March 6, and the second is set between May 5 and 20.

The National Education Policy 2020 has recommended that to eliminate the 'high-stakes' aspect of the board exams, all students will be allowed to take the exams on up to two occasions during any given school year.
