Punjab: Jawaharpur reports 7 new cases; Mohali count 37
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Mohali has reached 37 after seven new cases were reported from Jawaharpur village in Derabassi. Out of seven new cases, one case was reported on Thursday while six cases were reported on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the total number of cases in Jawaharpur stands at 22, the civil surgeon said. Mohali has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in Punjab. The Jawaharpur village has been sealed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Punjab Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu on Wednesday stated that "SAS Nagar (Mohali)--contacts of village Jawaharpur man, who had already tested positive in Derabassi Tehsil. A total of 10 samples tested positive on Wednesday. Of the district's total of 36, 21 (11 10) alone are accounted for by the Jawaharpur Sarpanch contacts." Likewise, DC Mohali Girish Dayalan on Wednesday said that "Of the pending samples - 6 more positive cases in Jawaharpur. Total cases in district 36. Let me reiterate, this is because we have been doing extensive sampling - not just quarantine. For each positive contact we've been tracing, and testing 25-55 people."
