Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist killed in Shopian encounter
One terrorist was neutralised on Wednesday during an ongoing encounter in the Nadigam area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, informed the police. "One terrorist killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow," said the Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet. Earlier today, the police had informed that an encounter had broken out between security forces and terrorists. "Encounter has started at Nadigam area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," read the tweet. The injured police officer has been identified as Shabir Ahmad and his condition is said to be stable. “After the incident, senior police officers rushed to the crime spot and cordoned off the area. A search operation has been launched to nab the accused," said a senior official. This was the third attack on security officials in the Valley in the last week, and the second in south Kashmir, according to a source. The terrorist encounter comes just days after 53-year-old police personnel was killed in a terrorist attack.
