J-K: Security beefed up ahead of Amarnath Yatra
Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), June 26: Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, the security has been ramped up at the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir at Lakhanpur, sources said on Sunday.
Giving details, RC Kotwal, SSP of Kathua said, "Lakhanpur is the gateway of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from the Punjab side and we have arranged all kinds of securities. I can assure you that no tourists will face any kind of problems."
"We are building reception yards, reception centres for the tourists' registration and can easily move ahead and till now, all the cars are moving with escorts," he further said.
Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, reviewed the security plans and Amarnath Yatra preparations earlier this week at the Unified Command Meeting in Srinagar.
According to earlier reports, security personnel deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, especially those in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will be equipped with high-tech gadgets being used "first time" during the annual pilgrimage of Hindus amid specific concerns regarding the use of "sticky bombs" by terrorists.

The pilgrimage to the cave shrine in the upper reaches of south Kashmir is expected to attract almost three lakh pilgrims.
The pilgrimage will go for 43 days between June 30 and August 11, and online registration has already started.
The pilgrimage to the Amarnath shrine, a 3,880-meter-high cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, is situated in the high Himalayas.
