Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan dies at 54

Irrfan Khan Death: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has passed away at the age of 54 in Mumbai on Wednesday. Earlier, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital following a colon infection, a report said. The news of his death was shared by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. He took to Twitter and wrote: “My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om Shanti. Irfaan Khan salute.” As per the report, a spokesperson of Irrfan Khan has said that "Yes, it is true that he was admitted to the ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection." He also added that the strength and the courage of the actor have helped him in fighting the neuroendocrine tumour so far. Earlier this week, Irrfan Khan lost his mother Saeeda Begum who passed away in Jaipur. He could not travel for the last rites but he paid respect through a video conference. Irrfan Khan had recently returned to the Bollywood industry with his film 'Angrezi Medium' which could not make it to the silver screen as the movie theatres were ordered to remain shut by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus. He had been on a year-long break as he diagnosed neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. The actor was also involved in several international blockbusters such as Slumdog Millionaire, Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi. In India, his most famous films include, the Academy Award nominated Salaam Bombay!, Maqbool (2004), Paan Singh Tomar (2011), The Lunchbox (2013), Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015) and Talvar (2015) and Hindi Medium (2017). -PTC News
