IndiGo’s Assam-Kolkata flight cancelled after plane skids off runway during take off
Jorhat (Assam), July 29: A Kolkata-bound IndiGo flight with 98 people on board skidded off the runway while taxiing for take-off at Jorhat airport in Assam on Thursday. The budget airline's Assam-Kolkata flight 6E-757 which was set to take off for Kolkata at 2:20 pm was cancelled after the incident. According to the airline, one of the main wheels partially ran over the grass adjacent to the taxiway while taxiing. Passengers on board panicked when the plane came to a standstill owing to the excursion. The crew, on the other hand, acted rapidly to calm the passengers and ensure no one was hurt. IndiGo arranged for the safe deboarding of all passengers, who were then moved to an airport waiting room. The aircraft was taken back to the bay at Jorhat for inspections. During the initial inspection there were no abnormalities observed," the statement from IndiGo airlines read. It further mentioned the maintenance team conducted a thorough inspection after which the flight was cancelled. According to an official, there was a technical snag with the aircraft following which the flight got cancelled at around 8:15 pm.
