Women's Asia Cup 2022: India Women's team crush Sri Lanka by 8 wickets to win title
Women's Asia Cup 2022: India won the Women's Asia Cup 2022 final on Saturday, defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
Chasing a 66-run target, India raced to 71 for two in 8.3 overs in a one-sided affair. Smriti Mandhana hit an undefeated half-century, scoring 51 runs off 25 balls.
The day was exceptionally memorable for India, as tight bowling from bowlers, particularly Renuka Singh (3/5), restricted Sri Lanka to 65/9 in 20 overs.
The target of 66 was chased down with minimum hassle, as Smriti Mandhana top-scored with an unbeaten 51* off 25 balls. Chasing 66, India made a strong start, scoring nearly half of their mark until spinner Inoka Ranaweera dismissed Shafali Verma (5 off 7 balls) when the batter was stumped by wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani.
India was 32/1 after Mandhana struck an unbroken 26 runs off 14 balls, including two stunning fours and two sixes.
The next batter to strike was Jemimah Rodrigues. Kavisha Dilhari bowled her for two runs when her off stump was dislodged while trying to slog the ball.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the next player to take the field. India was 42/2 at the end of the power-play in six overs, courtesy of Mandhana (28*) and Kaur (6*).
Mandhana smashed two fours on the offside to help India reach 50 runs. The pair led India to an eight-wicket victory, closing at 71/2 in 8.3 overs. Mandhana, who finished the match unbeaten on 51 off 31 balls, hit a tremendous six. On the other end, Kaur was unbeaten at 11.
Earlier, Renuka Singh's explosive power-play spell and outstanding performances by spinners Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad helped India restrict Sri Lanka to 65/9 in 20 overs in the Women's Asia Cup final at Sylhet on Saturday.
