India logs 2.5 lakh fresh Covid cases, positivity rate at 20.75%
India Covid Update: India reported less than 3 lakh (2,55,874 to be exact) fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, lesser than Sunday's figure of 3.33 lakh infections. The country reported 614 Covid deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of Covid fatalities reaches 4,89,848.
India currently has 22,36,842 active cases, accounting for 5.69 percent of all infections. The Covid recovery rate in India has dropped to 93.07 percent, according to the latest update.

On Monday, Delhi reported 9,197 new Covid-19 cases and 35 deaths, while Mumbai reported 2,550 new infections with 13 causalities. Bengaluru, on the other hand, had a substantially higher daily figure of 26,299 Covid cases.
Meanwhile, experts believe the improved tally is due to fewer tests and a large proportion of people opting for self-testing at home and not reporting it.
"Now that patients are self-testing, exact Covid-19 numbers are difficult to define," said Anoop Misra, chairman of Fortis C-Doc, a Delhi-based hospital.
Furthermore, according to the Co-WIN vaccine portal, vaccine doses administered in the country have surpassed the 162 crore mark. So far, more than 93 crore first doses and 68 crore second doses have been administered.
More than 4.19 crore adolescents between the ages of 15 and 17 have also received their first dose.
