India makes it to Guinness World Records for fastest road construction: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that India has made it to Guinness World Records for the fastest road construction. India made three world records recently and now holds the record for the fastest road construction, he said. Nitin Gadkari also said that India made it to the Guinness World Records by building a 2.5 km 4-lane concrete road within 24 hours and a 1-lane 25-km bitumen Solapur-Bijapur road within 24 hours. The statement came following the inauguration of the Pulia flyover and laying the foundation stone for the Khuram Nagar flyover in Lucknow. The Minister also said that this would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of the officials and other stakeholders. He said that these achievements are unprecedented and have no parallel in any other country in the world. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said India made it to Guinness World Records for the fastest road construction. Over the last 7 years, the length of National Highways has gone up by 50 percent from 91,287 km (as of April 2014) to 1,37,625 km (as of March 20, 2021). The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways also reported that the total budgetary outlay increased by 5.5 times, from INR 33,414 Cr in Financial Year 2015 to INR 1,83,101 Cr in Financial Year 2022.
