China claims Indian soldiers crossed the border for illegal activities
China on Tuesday claimed that Indian troops crossed the border for illegal activities and launched provocative attacks against Chinese personnel. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the Chinese side has lodged a strong protest and solemn representation. A clash took place between India and China in the Galwan valley. In a clash between India and Chinese troops, an Indian Army officer and two soldiers were martyred while the Chinese side also suffered casualties. The Editor-in-chief of Chinese and English editions of the Global Times, Hu Xijin, said in a tweet: "Based on what I know, the Chinese side also suffered casualties in the Galwan Valley physical clash. I want to tell the Indian side, don’t be arrogant, and misread China’s restraint as being weak. China doesn’t want to have a clash with India, but we don’t fear it." Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that China and India have agreed to resolve the bilateral issues through talks and contribute to the easing of tensions and maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and wrote: "The happening in the Galwan valley is a continuation of violations by China. It is time now that the country stands up to these incursions. Our soldiers are not fair game that every few days officers and men are being killed and injured defending our borders."
