Four Punjab-based soldiers martyred in violent face-off between India and China in Galwan Valley
Four Punjab-based soldiers were martyred in a violent face-off between India and China at the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh. A 22-year-old soldier has been identified as Gurtej Singh, a resident of Mansa district. Gurtej Singh belonged to the 3rd Battalion of the Punjab Regiment. He had joined the army last year. Likewise, a soldier identified as Mandeep Singh, a resident of Patiala, was martyred in the face-off. Among the other Punjab soldiers martyred in the clash, Satnam Singh from Gurdaspur and Gurbinder from Sangrur. Meanwhile, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday took to Twitter and wrote: "Heartfelt tributes to all the brave soldiers, including 22-year-old Gurtej Singh of Mansa (Punjab), who sacrificed their lives at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh protecting our borders. Condolences to the martyr families. The nation will remain indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice." Likewise, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and wrote: "The Nation will never forget their bravery and sacrifice. My heart goes out to the families of the fallen soldiers. The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this difficult hour. We are proud of the bravery and courage of India’s Bravehearts." "The loss of soldiers in the Galwan is deeply disturbing and painful. Our soldiers displayed exemplary courage and valour in the line of duty and sacrificed their lives in the highest traditions of the Indian Army," he added.
