Illegal mining is rampant in Punjab, claims RTI activist
Chandigarh, September 21: Latest RTI filed by social activist Manik Goyal revealed some startling facts about the illegal mining stands in Punjab. RTI has found that after 1/07/22, there are only two legitimate stands in Punjab. One Khad village Bliewal and the other Khasi Kalan, both in Ludhiana. Manik Goyal stated that how many more stands are there whose news comes daily? Also Read: AAP orders VB to probe against Congress leader Rana KP Singh: Sources According to the news, mining is rapid in several cities and districts of Punjab which includes: Anandpur, Ropar, Pathankot, Tarantaran, Ferozpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar and other areas of Punjab. Meanwhile, mining in Ravi is also in bad condition in Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Manik Goyal also said that Army and BSF also appeared in the court in mining cases. In his RTI, he questioned Punjab’s mining minister Harjot Singh Bains and asked him that “if only two legal stands are going on, then in the rest of Punjab, whose sign is being looted??? Our mining minister @harjotsinghbains ji owes an explanation to the people of Punjab.”
