Home Minister Amit Shah to inaugurate National Conference of Rural Cooperative Banks
New Delhi, August 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate a one-day National Conference of Rural Cooperative Banks organized on Friday. The conference has been organised by the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks (NAFSCOB). Gyanesh Kumar, secretary, Ministry of Cooperation; Konduru Ravinder Rao, NAFSCOB Chairman and Bhima Subrahmanyam, NAFSCOB Managing Director will also be in attendance. Meanwhile, the union minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma will address the valedictory session of the conference, the ministry informed earlier. According to an official statement, 34 State Cooperative Banks, 351 District Central Cooperative Banks, and 96,575 PACS make up India's short-term cooperative credit structure. The development of a short-term cooperative credit structure and the smooth functioning of the state and central cooperative banks were two major goals of the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks, which was founded on May 19, 1964. Amit Shah will also honour a few short-term cooperative credit institutions for their 100 years of service and present Performance Awards to a select group of State Cooperative Banks, District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs), and PACS. According to the press release, the government has been working to improve rural areas and agriculture, and cooperatives' potential and role are growing along with government investments in agricultural infrastructure.
