Hemkund Sahib yatra temporarily suspended due to cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district
Chamoli, July 20: Hemkund Sahib Yatra has been temporarily suspended as the cloudburst hits Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. Police said that due to heavy rain and cloudburst, the water level of Laxman Ganga and Paturi canal has increased, due to which they have advised all passengers to remain at their place for today and on 21/07/2022 in view of the possibility of an accident on Hemkund Sahib Road.
Chamoli Police shared the information through a tweet from its official Twitter handle and said that “Travellers are requested to start their journey only when the weather is fine. Take care, stay safe."

A poster was also shared by the police in which they wrote "The Laxman Ganga and Paturi drains have overflowed due to heavy rain and cloudburst in the hilly Patudi Tok just opposite Ghangaria since 19/07/2022. Released by Meteorological Department According to the forecast, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Chamoli district on 21/07/2022. So all travelers are advised to stay at their place today and tomorrow on Hemkund Sahib Road on 21/07/2022. should be kept on and the passengers should be dispatched to Sri Hemkund Sahib only when the route is completely secured.
