HC scraps Punjab Govt's order cancelling route permit of Orbit and New Deep bus service
In a major setback to the Punjab Government, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday scrapped the state government's order cancelling the route permit of Orbit and New Deep bus service. Advocate General DS Patwalia had appeared on behalf of the Punjab Government but couldn't save the government. The state government had recently cancelled the route permit of the New Deep and Orbit bus service and confiscated the buses. Also Read | Omicron variant cases present in at least 15 US states The Transport Department had stated that it cancelled bus permits due to evasion of taxes. Punjab Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring had said that the action was taken following non-payment of taxes. However, the High Court, on November 23, had put a stay on action initiated by Transport Minister against Orbit bus company in Punjab. Likewise, the court had ordered to release all impounded Orbit buses within one hour and reinstate all permits cancelled by the Punjab Transport Minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
