Seven members of a family were killed and nine others were injured in an accident on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway on Tuesday.
The accident took place at 4:30 am, when the driver of their pick-up van fell asleep at the wheel, police said.
The accident took place in Haryana's Palwal district. The family was on its way from Mohali to Mathura, Superintendent of Police (SP), Palwal, Waseem Akram said.
The driver was feeling sleepy and as he continued to drive, he fell asleep at the wheel, the SP added. Passengers sitting in the rear portion of the car were killed.
The injured were taken to a hospitals immediately.
