Harsimrat Kaur Badal wins the fight against GST on Langar
When tireless efforts and consistency are your tools, nothing can stop your thought from finding its destination. Such was-slash is- and will continue to be the fixity of purpose for Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. 'Langar- upholds the principle of equality between all people of the world regardless of religion, cast, colour, creed, age, gender or social status.' Harsimrat Kaur Badal carried the weight of getting GST waived off on her shoulders not just for Sikhs, but for every community that is selflessly serving people through blissfully performing the service of Langar. While the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government failed, here's the lady who made a dream of thousands, of every community come true.
I had decided to make whatever sacrifice I needed to achieve justice for Langar, she said. Be it writing letters to the central government or seeking help from the Punjab Government that totally failed to take it up with the GST council, Harsimrat Badal was on the cutting edge of her solo agenda. The agenda of fighting for justice, for every community. She sacrificed her sleep to achieve justice for the blissful deed; of filling the stomach of others without seeking anything in return. Besides getting support from Nitish kumar and Devendra Fadnavis , she personally met PM Shri Narender Modi ji and conveyed to him the sentiments of the community.
'For months my heart was heavy with the burden of GST being levied on Langar. Like all Sikhs it was hurting my sentiments too,' she said. Since the Punjab Government totally failed to take it up with the GST council, I decided to fight for justice for langar and pursue it at every level I could.
'Every paisa collected through GST on Langar' How beautifully has the lady fought for the rights of those who serve; not just Gurdwaras but also temples, churches, mosque.
Anyone serving free food to humanity will not be taxed! Sikh Panth once again lived up to “Deh siva var mohe yahi, shubh karman se kabhu na taru; Na darun arsun jab jai larun, nishchay kar apni jeet karun” as envisioned by Dashmesh Pita. -Written and Edited by Nimrat Kaur for PTC News
