Gurcharan kaur’s daughter of Sewa Singh Thikriwala dies at 98 in Patiala. Gurcharan Kaur died here in Chandigarh this morning, the mother of the deceased was brought to Patiala. Sewa Singh Thikriwala was a leader of the Praja Mandal movement in Patiala, a former princely state. He was the President of the Riyasat Parjamandal Party during the reign of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala and the British. The vice President of this Party was Sardar Ridha Singh Akali of village Ghagga in Patiala district. Gurcharan Kaur was the maternal aunt of the Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh. Born as Sewa Singh Dhaliwal he belonged to Thikriwala village in Punjab and was hence called Sewa Singh Thikriwala. He is remembered and honoured as a prominent freedom fighter from Punjab. -PTC News
