Govt considering dropping Covid-19 pre-call messages
New Delhi, March 28: Amid steady decline in Covid-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry has decided to stop the caller tune on coronavirus awareness and precautions, said sources.
The Covid-19 caller tune was started two years ago when the pandemic hit the country. Operators, including Bharti Airtel, BSNL, Reliance Jio and Vodafone-Idea, replaced their caller tunes in March 2020 on the directions of the government.

Initially, the caller tune on coronavirus used to start with the sound of people coughing, sneezing and then an advisory on the precautions to be taken to protect against the pandemic.
Later, the massage was changed and the new message urged people to get vaccinated.
On Monday, India reported 1,270 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest since April 2020.
Coronavirus cases are declining every month after a big resurgence reported in cases earlier, driven by the Omicron variant of the virus.
National capital Delhi reported 71 fresh cases and one death in the past 24 hours, according to the health bulletin.
The total Covid-19 cases in the city moved up to 18,64,549, including 448 active cases. According to the Delhi Health Department bulletin, the city had a positivity rate of 0.31 per cent.

Kerala, which contributed the maximum to the caseload earlier, reported 400 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 3,833.
According to the health bulletin, during the last 24 hours, 593 people have recovered from the infection. During the last 24 hours, the state reported zero death and with this, the death toll touched 67,797.
