Global Hunger Index 2020: India's hunger level 'serious', ranks 94 out of 107 countries
India's hunger level is under 'serious category' as it has been ranked on the 94th position among 107 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2020, a report said. According to the report, India's hunger level that is “serious” was having a score of 27.2. India’s rank was 102 out of 117 countries last year. Out of 107 countries, there are countries like Rwanda (97), Nigeria (98), Afghanistan (99), Liberia (102), Mozambique (103), and Chad (107) among others. The Global Hunger Index is an annual report, jointly published by Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, that tracks hunger level at the global, regional, and country levels. In many countries the situation is improving slowly, while in others it is worsening, the report said. In over 46 countries those are in the moderate, serious, or alarming categories, the GHI scores have improved since 2012. However, there are 14 countries in those categories, where GHI scores show that hunger and undernutrition level have worsened. According to the latest GHI projections, 37 countries will fail to achieve even low hunger by 2030. -PTC News
