Give Rs 1 crore to martyr Paramjeet's family: Phoolka
HS Phoolka, Leader of opposition, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, on Wednesday demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of Naib Subehdar Paramjeet Singh who got martyred at Poonch recently. "An amount of Rs 12 Lakh given to the family by Punjab Government is too low to be considered as due compensation," Phoolka said. He further added that though life of a soldier is priceless for society and can not be compensated in terms of money, yet amount given to martyrs should be minimum requisite to be sufficient for sustenance of the family members. "The Kejriwal Government in Delhi has already made a policy to give compensation of Rs 1 crore to all those soldiers who sacrifice their life for country," Phoolka said. Phoolka said it is surprising that none of the representatives of Punjab Government came to pay respect to the departed soul. He demanded that policy should be made by the Punjab Government to give compensation of Rs 1 crore to all soldiers from Punjab who sacrifice their life for the country. — PTC News
