George Floyd death: Violence erupts; protesters on street; curfew imposed in major cities of US
Major cities in the US including Washington DC have imposed a curfew on Sunday, in response to the increasing tension between the police and the protesters. Fresh riots took place after anti-racism protestors took to the streets to voice their rage against the police brutality. The riots and protests are taking place in response to the death of George Floyd at police hands in Minnesota. Likewise, California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles county and activated the National Guard to assist the police after two days of violent demonstrations sparked by the death in Minneapolis of George Floyd. In a shocking video, an unarmed black man, George Floyd was lying on the street while Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes after which he stopped breathing. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1266800113260703744?s=20 Meanwhile, Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and is due to appear before the court on Monday. Likewise, three other police officers have been fired but for now, there have been no charges against them.
