Mumbai (Maharashtra), August 31: Celebrations for Ganesh Chaturthi are in full swing across the country as the country marks the beginning of the ten-day festival on Wednesday. Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganpati Utsav, which begins on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month Bhadrapada, is widely celebrated in Maharashtra and other regions of western and southern India, with thousands of devotees converging into mandals to seek Lord Ganesha's blessings. Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi are other names for the occasion. Following the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, several Bollywood celebrities went to their social media handles to wish their fans a happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesh Chaturthi 2021: Celebrations to begin amidst Covid-19 restrictions Taking to his Instagram handle, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan wished his fans through a 'Ganesh-Chaturthi' special post featuring Ganesh made from Peeple leaves and wrote "Ganesh chaturthee kee haardik aur anek anek shubhakaamanaen". Ganesh Chaturthi Alia Bhatt extended wishes to her fans and wrote "Happy Ganesh Chaturthi Wishing you and your family happiness, prosperity, and peace" Global icon Priyanka Chopra extended greetings through her Instagram story and wrote, "Ganpati Bappa Morya!!" while actor Akshay Kumar posted a motion picture of Lord Ganesh and wrote, "Happy Ganesh Chaturthi". The celebrations began on August 31 and will end on September 9. The festivities will conclude with the Visarjan, or the final immersion of the Ganesha idols.
