Forest scam: Despite bail, ex-Punjab minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot still in jail
Chandigarh, September 09: In a major update, former Punjab Congress minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has not been granted bail by the jail administration despite of bail from Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 5.
Sadhu Singh Dharamsot accused in forest scam is still in jail despite of High Court granting him bail on newly added sections of IPC in the FIR.
However , Sadhu Singh Dharamsot is expected to be released from the jail by Wednesday evening.

Recently, Vigilance Bureau arrested accused Nitin Bansal in forest scam case and IPC sections 420, 465,467 and 468 were added in the FIR.
The sections imposed in FIR of Nitin Bansal in forest scam case are not included in the bail orders of High Court, therefore Sadhu Singh Dharamasot has not been granted relief from jail administration.
If sources are to be believed, jail administration is also facing some kind of technical glitch that in turn has barred them of letting former minister out of jail.
In a meantime, Dharamsot lawyer has moved High Court on his bail.
Former ministers Dharamsot and Gilzian are accused in the forest scam. Dharamsot is accused to have taken a bribe of Rs 500 for cutting down each tree. It is alleged that he has taken bribe of over Rs 1 crore, due to which the Vigilance arrested him from his house at Amloh in the early hours. Since then he is in jail.
Punjab Vigilance Bureau has intensified its campaign against corruption and is certainly not sparing anyone be it a politician or any high rank officer. The VB hitlist is longer than expected, bearing several big political names.

Former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has been arrested in the tender scam. Apart from this, Tript Rajinder Bajwa is facing allegations of land sale misappropriation and Sukhjinder Randhawa in the case of VIP treatment to notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari.
