Zurich (Switzerland), August 27: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) lifted the suspension of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Friday with immediate effect, noting that "FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place on October 11-30 2022 can be held in India as planned."

Issuing a statement about the lift of suspension, FIFA said, "Under these circumstances, the Bureau of the Council decided on August 25, 2022, to lift the suspension of the AIFF with immediate effect. As a consequence, the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place on October 11-30 2022 can be held in India as planned."

"Finally, as foreseen in the decision of the Bureau of 14 August 2022, further communication to the AIFF will follow shortly with respect to the next steps to be taken towards holding elections. Kindly take note that FIFA and the AFC will continue to monitor the situation and will support the AIFF in organising the elections in a timely manner," it read.

The decision was made after FIFA obtained confirmation that the committee of administrators formed to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee had been abolished and that the AIFF administration had restored full control of the AIFF's daily operations. FIFA and the AFC will continue to monitor the situation and will assist the AIFF in holding elections on time. As a result, the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022, which is slated to take place in India from October 11 to 30, 2022, will go ahead as planned.
