Farmers union hold three-hour ‘rail roko’ protest
Chandigarh, October 3: Farmers’ union of Punjab staged a protest by stopping trains across Punjab from 12 noon to 3 pm as a protest against the Punjab and central government. Hundreds of farmers protested against the government by protesting on the railway tracks in various places of Punjab. The farmers raised slogans against the Punjab government. Also Read: Punjab Police bust ISI-backed KTF terror module The state of the Indian Farmers' Union Ugrahan said that the dharna has been organised against the amendment made in the Common Village Land Act 1961 for jointly owned lands. Farmers alleged that by amending this act, the government may give the land to private big families in the near future. Sarwan Singh Pandher, leader of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, said that they will hold protest against government and will sit on the railway track at 12 pm to protest against the state and central governments till 3 pm. Sarwan Singh Pandher also stated that earlier, the Central Government adopted the amendment in the act but now Punjab Government is also following the same path. Notably, in three-hour rail roko, trains will be stopped in Faridkot.
