Farmers to block Delhi-Jaipur highway, toll plazas today; heavy police force deployed
Farmers Protest against farm laws 2020: As farmers are all set to block the highway and toll plazas on the border to Delhi on Saturday, the security has been beefed up as police has deployed a heavy force to protect toll booths and ensure smooth flow of traffic, the Faridabad Police said. Around 3,500 police personnel have been deployed at the five toll plazas in the area as the farmers announced to block them and made them toll-free, the Faridabad police said. The police is keeping a close eye on protestors to avoid any disruption in law and order under the guise of the movement at the Badarpur Border, Gurugram Faridabad, Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal, Pali Crusher Zone and Dhauj toll plazas. On Friday, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) chief Balbir Singh Rajewal said, "We will block Delhi-Jaipur road on December 12." In the wake of the farmers' decision to block the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (National Highway-48), the District Magistrate of Gurugram Amit Khatri has appointed 68 Duty Magistrates in the district at various locations. The farmers protest has been intensified after the Centre refused to repeal the three farm laws 2020 i.e. the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. -PTC News
