Farmers' Protest: Farmers on Tuesday raised slogans against the newly appointed Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu who visited Khatkar Kalan village in SBS Nagar district to pay tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Navjot Singh Sidhu, who visited Khatkar Kalan in SBS Nagar, started his trip towards Amritsar, via Chandigarh, with MLA Rajkumar Verka, MLA Sukhpal Bhullar, MLA Inderbir Bholaria, MLA Gurpreet GP, and Lali Majithia. Congress was on the other side and wanted to avoid clashes, he said, adding that there was no lathi charge. Farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have been protesting against the Centre's farm laws, demanding the repeal of them. There have been a total of 11 rounds of talks between the farmers and the Centre but all of them remained inconclusive. The three farm laws are Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. -PTC News
