Farmers' leaders to meet Centre today
The farmers’ agitation for repeal of three agriculture laws introduced by the Union government has entered its 44th day. Farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other states are protesting at various borders in Delhi in the bitter cold and demanding repeal of these laws. Today is the eighth round of meeting at 2 pm in Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi. Yesterday, the Central government had sent a fresh proposal unofficially to the farmers’ organizations through Baba Lakha Singh Ji to end the deadlock between them. However, the farmers’ organizations rejected the Centre’s unofficial proposal sent through Baba Lakha Singh Ji as they said that the proposal was not in written and such a proposal is an indirect attack on the federal structure. Yesterday, farmers also held a tractor march on KMP expressway, Delhi and in parts of Punjab which they said was a trailer for the historic Republic Day tractor parade that they will do on January 26.
