Excise policy case: CBI summons Manish Sisodia on Oct 17 for questioning

New Delhi, October 16: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday confirmed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned him on Monday. "I will go and fully cooperate with the CBI as it has called me to the headquarters at 11 am tomorrow after raiding my house for 14 hours and searching bank account and even my village where they could not find anything," he tweeted in Hindi. In August, the ED officers searched Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's official residence, as well as many other locations, in connection with the alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi's excise policy. Also Read | AAP minister Baljit Kaur's convoy rams speeding car into scooty, two seriously injured Sisodia, in charge of the excise department, has been investigated for alleged deliberate and severe procedural lapses that provided undue benefits to the tender process for liquor licensees for the fiscal year 2021-22. Sisodia is accused of making decisions in violation of the Excise Policy's statutory provisions, which could have serious financial implications. Sources have indicated that such "undue financial favours" to liquor licensees after the deadline for awarding tenders resulted in massive losses to the exchequer.
