Usha Uthup's husband passes away after massive cardiac arrest
PTC News Desk: Singer Usha Uthup's husband Jani Chacko Uthup passed away after a massive cardiac arrest in Kolkata.
The 78-year-old had complained of discomfort while watching TV at their residence after which he was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he was declared dead.
Jani, Usha's second husband, had a background in tea plantations. They first met at the iconic Trincas in the early 1970s. Usha previously married the late Ramu.
Besides Usha, he is survived by their son Sunny and daughter Anjali. The family has announced that the last rites will take place on Tuesday.
Usha, 76, was recently honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government. She began her singing career at a Chennai nightclub. Dev Anand, a great actor, discovered her in a Delhi nightclub and convinced her to make her Bollywood debut in his 1971 film Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Some of her famous songs are Hari Om Hari, Koi Yahan Aha Nache Nache, Darling from 7 Khoon Maaf, and the Drishyam 2 title track.
