Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth hospitalised in Chennai; wife Latha shares health update
PTC News Desk: Superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai late Monday night, with sources indicating that a heart-related procedure is scheduled for Tuesday. Hospital officials have stated that his condition is stable; however, no official statement has been released by the hospital or his family regarding his health.
At 76 years old, Rajinikanth has recently been busy working on two films: Vettaiyan, directed by Gnanavel Raja, which is set for release on October 10, and Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He had just returned to Chennai a few days before his hospitalisation.
Rajinikanth’s health history includes a kidney transplant in Singapore a decade ago. More recently, he decided to step back from entering politics, a move that had been widely anticipated, citing health reasons.
While there hasn’t been formal confirmation regarding the nature of his current health issue, sources suggest that he had been experiencing stomach pain. In a brief conversation with CNN-News 18, his wife, Latha Rajinikanth, reassured fans, stating, “All is well.”

In late 2020, Rajinikanth faced a similar health scare, which led him to abandon his plans to launch a political party he had announced just weeks earlier. Concerns surrounding his health were cited as reasons for this retraction, especially in light of the ongoing pandemic.
Currently, Rajinikanth is engaged in filming Coolie and had recently met with veteran filmmakers SP Muthuraman and AVM Saravanan, with photos from their meeting circulating widely on social media.
As fans await further updates, anticipation builds for the upcoming release of Vettaiyan, which marks Rajinikanth's first collaboration with director TJ Gnanavel. The film features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. The soundtrack is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and cinematography is managed by SR Kathir.
