PTC Web Desk: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital Tuesday afternoon, six days after suffering serious injuries during a knife attack at his Bandra residence. Doctors have advised Saif Ali Khan to take complete bed rest for a week and avoid visitors to prevent infection.
The shocking incident, which has sparked concerns over Mumbai's law and order situation, occurred late Wednesday night. Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds when an intruder broke into his home and attacked him. One of the injuries was dangerously close to his spinal cord, missing it by just 2 mm. The actor underwent surgery to repair spinal fluid leakage and plastic surgery for wounds on his arm and neck.
Eliyama Philip, who looks after Saif Ali Khan’s sons Taimur and Jeh, narrated the harrowing sequence of events to the police. She recounted being awakened by noises around 2 am and spotting the intruder in the children’s room. The man, armed with a wooden stick and a Hexa blade, demanded money. Despite her attempts to protect the children, Philip was injured in the altercation.
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan rushed out of their room upon hearing Philip’s screams. When Khan confronted the intruder, he was attacked but managed to escape, allowing everyone to flee to the upper floor of their home. The intruder later escaped the premises.
The police have arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national living under the alias Bijoy Das, in connection with the crime. As part of the ongoing investigation, the accused was brought to the Bandra residence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
