'Reclaim your wheelchair': Comedian Vir Das slams Air India after injured wife not given a wheelchair despite pre-booking

PTC News Desk: Comedian Vir Das on Tuesday slammed the Air India airlines for his unpleasant experience. The actor-comedian who was accompanied by his wife was travelling to Delhi, took to his social media shared the ordeal narrating his journey which was nothing short of a nightmare.

The 45-year-old shared that his wife was suffering from a fractured foot and, therefore, they paid for some extra service, but nothing helped during the journey. Das said that he was greeted by a "broken table, broken leg rests" and a stuck seat which refused to straighten.

"Dear Air India, please reclaim your wheelchair. I'm a lifetime loyalist. I believe you've got the nicest cabin crew in the sky, this post pains me to write," he said.

"Broken table, broken leg rests, her seat is stuck reclined, won't straighten fully. Were told the flight is 'newly refurbished'. Two hours late, we get off in Delhi and we're told it's a stepladder. Again wheelchair and Encalm (meet-and-greet services at airports) pre-booked," he added further.

Das went on to mention how the horror didn't stop there and he continued to face issues with even the on-ground staff at the airport. "We get to the terminal, encalm people inform wheelchair staff that we had pre booked a chair. He’s clueless. There’s wheelchairs everywhere. No staff because the flight is late. I grab a chair and wheel her to baggage claim, then out of the airport to the parking (sic)," he added.
