'OMG 2' box office: Akshay Kumar's film inches close to Rs 100 crore after Independence Day collection
'OMG 2' box office: Despite stiff competition from Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2,' Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2' performed well. The film is now on track to gross Rs 100 crore at the box office. It garnered Rs 17.10 crore on Independence Day.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the total collection for OMG 2 is currently Rs 73.67 crore.
"#OMG2 is trending EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, the jump on #IndependenceDay is an EYE-OPENER… Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 15.30 cr, Sun 17.55 cr, Mon 12.06 cr, Tue 17.10 cr. Total: ₹ 72.27 cr. #India biz… #OMG2 is displaying strong legs at the #BO," Adarsh said on X (previously Twitter).
"Let’s face it, the clash with #Gadar2 has eroded its true potential… #OMG2 would’ve easily collected much, much more if it hadn’t released alongside a Tsunami called #Gadar2," he further said.
'OMG 2' is directed by Amit Rai and also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the major roles. The film has been on the radar since the film's posters and teaser were released.
According to several sources, the censor board put the film on hold because the committee wanted to be extra cautious due to the film's religious content. However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved the picture. The film was rated 'A' (Adults Only) by the censor board.
'OMG 2' was Akshay's tenth Independence Day release, and it paid off.
