Manipur violence: This is how B-town celebs react to Manipur horror against women
Manipur horror: The distressing footage from Manipur which shows two women being paraded naked by a mob, subjected to molestation, and dragged to a field where they were allegedly gang-raped has sparked widespread national concern.
Be it political leader, MLAs, journalists, doctors, actors and even general public, each and everyone is coming forward to express their concern, anger and views over the Manipur violence.
Several Bollywood celebrities also took to their social media handles and reacted to the viral video that allegedly shows two women in Manipur being sexually assaulted on a road.
‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ actor Kiara Advani took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “The video of violence against women in Manipur is horrifying and has shaken me to the core. I pray the women get justice at the earliest. Those responsible must face the most SEVERE punishment they deserve.”

Actor Akshay Kumar also reacted to a viral video of Manipur violence.
Taking to Twitter, Akshay wrote, “Shaken, disgusted to see the video of violence against women in Manipur. I hope the culprits get such a harsh punishment that no one ever thinks of doing a horrifying thing like this again.”

Known as “Messiah of Migrants,” Sonu Sood also expressed his views and concern over Manipur gang rape.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote, “Manipur video has shaken everyone’s soul. It was humanity that was paraded..not the women.”

Expressing his anger over the Manipur violence, comedian Vir Das questioned administration, several political leaders and officials in the series of tweets.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Vir Das wrote, “When horrific incidents occur make no mistake, through the system, our leaders are IMMEDIATELY aware. When months later videos go viral, twitter is aware. If leaders only then respond, it’s to twitter, not horrific incidents. They care about online outrage, not real people.”

Manipur has been witnessing violence since May 3, following the protests by the Kuki and Naga communities against the High Court's order asking the state government to consider the inclusion of Meitei community in the category of Scheduled Tribes (ST). Only STs can buy lands in hilly areas.
The majority Meitei community, which occupy the Imphal valley and nearby areas, sought the ST status keeping in view their increasing population and increased requirement of land, so that they could purchase lands in the hilly areas.
The government has planned heavy legislative business for the monsoon session of Parliament beginning Thursday with Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023, among 31 bills on its agenda.
The monsoon session of Parliament will continue till August 11. There will be a total of 17 sittings during the session. It will commence in the old Parliament Building.
