PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed a PIL against controversial Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut's new film 'Emergency' on Saturday.

During today's hearing, the Censor Board, appearing as a party, informed the court that no certificate has been issued to 'Emergency' yet.

The Censor Board told the High Court that a decision on giving the certificate would be made only after investigating the complaints filed against the film. CBFC added that every complaint about the film will be addressed.

The High Court disposed of the petition and informed the petitioner that their petition would now be heard by the Censor Board.  However, if they are still dissatisfied with the verdict, they can appeal to the High Court again.

Despite speculations that Kangana Ranaut's film "Emergency" had been certified for release, it remains with the censor board. The film was set to be released on September 6.

Kangana confirmed the news in a video message on X and said, "There are rumours that our film 'Emergency' has got a censor certificate. It is not true. In fact, our film was cleared earlier but its certification has been stopped because of several threats."

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) filed a legal notice with the CBFC on Friday, stating that Ranaut's film could "incite communal tensions" and "spread misinformation". It said that the trailer for the film showed "erroneous historical facts that not only misrepresent the Sikh community but also promote hatred and social discord."
