Haryana cracks down on gun culture songs, bans five more tracks on YouTube

PTC Web Desk: The Haryana Government has intensified its action against songs promoting gun culture, removing five more tracks from YouTube in the last 24 hours. Citing policy violations, the government took down songs by Masoom Sharma, Sumit Parta, Amit Saini Rohtakiya, Harsh Sandhu, and Raj Mawar.

Among the banned songs, two featured popular Haryanvi actress Pranjal Dahiya. This latest action brings the total number of banned songs to 14.

On Friday and Saturday, the Haryana Government banned the following songs: Amit Saini Rohtakiya – 'Affidavit';  Masoom Sharma – '2 Bande', Sumit Parta – 'Pistol', Harsh Sandhu – 'Bandook' and  Raj Mawar & Manisha Sharma 'Badmashi'. Pranjal Dahiya featured in Raj Mawar's songs.

The sudden removal of these tracks has sent shockwaves through the Haryanvi music industry. Several artists have started replacing their gun culture-themed songs with alternative content to comply with regulations.

In response, Sumit Parta swiftly replaced his song 'Pistol' with a new track through his technical team as soon as the removal notice was issued.

Masoom Sharma’s "2 Bande" had garnered 4.8 million views in just two months before being banned in India. Harsh Sandhu and Pranjal Dahiya’s "Bandook" had accumulated 154 million views since its release three years ago. Sumit Parta’s "Pistol" had crossed 20 million views in three months.

Amit Saini Rohtakiya’s "Affidavit" had 23 million views after being uploaded 10 months ago. Raj Mawar & Manisha Sharma’s "Badmashi" had been viewed 38 million times over the past two years before its removal.

Masoom Sharma faces highest number of bans

Out of the 14 banned songs, Masoom Sharma's tracks have been hit the hardest, with eight of his songs removed from YouTube, including: 'Tuition Centre Badmashi Ka', 'Gabbar Bhi Nachega' and '60 Mukadme'.

With millions of views on the removed tracks, artists like Masoom Sharma, Amit Saini Rohtakiya, and others could face significant revenue losses. YouTube bans on such popular songs will impact ad revenues and streaming royalties.
